MEET Dr. Stevens

Dr. Stevens graduated from Northwestern Chiropractic College in Bloomington, Minnesota in 1983 and immediately established his practice in Yankton 1984.   

 

Prior to his chiropractic career, Dr. Stevens had a successful career as high school teacher and basketball coach at Tyndall-Tabor High School and later on at Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota.  His training and experience as an athletic trainer and his passion to help those who have injuries or pain eventually lead him into the chiropractic field.


Dr. Stevens served on the Chiropractic Peer Review Committee for numerous years and was previously appointed by the governor of South Dakota to serve as the Executive Chair of the committee.


Skilled in acupuncture, Dr. Stevens has over 360 hours of training specifically in acupuncture and has continued to study the latest research and techniques in the field of evidence-based, or sometimes as it is sometimes called, medical acupuncture.   His pursuit of academic excellence in the field of acupuncture has taken him to Ireland and England.   He has participated in hospital rounds at the Greater Ormand Street Hospital in London with the renowned author, researcher, editor, and educator on medical acupuncture, Dr. Mike Cummings. 


Dr. Stevens’ hobbies are numerous.  He enjoys basketball, playing and teaching guitar, hunting, fishing, scuba diving, and flying as private pilot.   He loves to study and travel.   He is married, has three children, one grandchild, one dog and a cat.
